Buzkashi, meaning “goat grabbing” in the Dari language, is the national sport of Afghanistan. This ancient Central Asian game, involving horse-mounted riders who battle for control of a goat carcass and attempt to drive it into a designated goal, was banned under Taliban rule from 1996 to 2001.
